Jim Lamond has represented employees and their unions since 1985. He spends much of his time helping nurses, police officers, correction officers, school employees, building maintenance workers, college professors and administrators, and others. He handles contract negotiations and labor arbitrations, and presents cases before the courts and various state and federal agencies, including the NLRB, MCAD, the Massachusetts Civil Service Commission and the Massachusetts Division of Labor Relations.
He has argued many cases before the state and federal appeals courts, helping to shape the law in areas such as employee privacy rights relating to drug testing, the job protection rights of active duty military personnel, the rights of police officers to use their discretion in issuing motor vehicle citations, the process by which public employees receive immunity from prosecution when required to participate in workplace investigations, and the rights of retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed weapons in order to protect themselves in their retirement.
Jim has been included in “Best Lawyers in America” since 2007 and has consistently been recognized as both a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer” and a “New England Super Lawyer”. He has spoken at continuing legal education seminars and has contributed to two editions of How Arbitration Works, one of the leading texts on labor arbitration.
